Climbing furniture... jolly good fun.

But still a little puss, exhaustion always follows.

Cute huh? The plastic bag belongs to Luc, and Travellin' Puss will develop the habbit of lying on top his travellin' bag. Here she discovers there are precious things to be found on the table.

A typical cat...

Introducing Sheldon

The first time Travellin' Puss travelled to Nijlen, Antwerp, she met Sheldon, the ginger cat of Luc's mother. Sheldon was intrigued by the cat litter box Travellin Puss' uses (as he has one without a door).

In the beginning the relationship was one of nature's old school. She wanted to play (being just about two months), he wanted to take her home and woo her all the way... Our task was mainly trying to prevent Sheldon from mounting that little Travellin' Puss.

A little action and a place to sleep...

In the beginning this became one of her favourite sleeping spots, underneath the table, on a chair. Even today she every now and then decides to hide there to have a quiet afternoon.

And it's a small step from on the chair to on the carpet underneath the table. Isn't she cute?

Shoes! Laces! Fun!

Curious as a cat should be, Travellin' Puss is eager to find out what I'm holding between my hands.

Here she still is curious but is afraid to take the leap from sofa to coffeetable. Watch that silent miaowing.

And after all that excitement, back to the chair under the table.

The day after the day she arrived...

The next day she discovered the appartement. A basket underneath her cat's scratcher.

A lovely place to eat and look at herself.

Another basket to sleep in. Actually this was supposed to be her travelling basket. But she tore it apart the first time she went to Nijlen, Antwerp. While I was driving and she was in her basket on the backseat, she managed to tear down the iron door and escape. Not that she was any trouble, she jumped into my lap and stayed there the whole ride.

A piece of string became one of her favourite toys until I threw it away because it was all ragged up and it was too dangerous to play with.

And ofcourse the sofa, what better place to lay down than a nice soft high sofa...

The day Travellin' Puss arrived...

The day she arrived... She was brougt to Ghent by my parents and my little niece. A lot of excitement for a little cat. So all the time they were here, she hid under the cupboard, under the sofa, under everything she'd fit under. When they left, I put her on my lap and she fell asleep. Not to wake up until we went to bed.

Noa, my little niece, also lives with the mothercat, and so she saw the little kittens being born and growing older. Noa wasn't a particular caring person for those little kittens. For instance, she would go close, very friendly and when the kittens would least expect it Noa would yell 'BOOOH!'. On another occasion she took Travellin' Puss by the tail and threw her around the room. No need to say those kittens were scared like hell by Noa.

So when my parents and Noa left, Noa took Travellin' Puss and gave her to me, saying the following "Here, you asked for a cat, now you can take care of her"... Noa was only six then, but what an attitude!

Still with the mothercat

My sister, who owns the mothercat, took this picture when Travellin' Puss first started walking. Watch that little left leg! Travellin' Puss was quite disabled at first, which was the reason why I decided to take her home with me.

A picture of Travellin' Puss (in the front, a loner) with her brother (l) and sister (r), still in Hooglede, where she was born.

A picture I took when I went to decide which kitten I would take home with me. Not really difficult huh?

A picture from that same session

Something she still likes to do. Lying, sleeping, sitting on the windowsill.

Just born...

Exhausted after the ride from womb to world. Travellin' Puss in the middle...

Climbing for milk, that's Travellin' Puss on top!
